What it is
There's no custom agent here. mac-pilot is a configuration for Claude Code that turns a terminal session into something that can use my desktop. It has a Playwright browser with its own saved profile (I log in once by hand, so the agent never touches passwords), a skill for screenshot, click and check loops, and a CLAUDE.md with hard stops for things like spending money, sending messages as me, deleting files or changing security settings.
It prefers the least risky tool that works: shell first, then AppleScript, then the browser, and raw clicks only when nothing else will do.
The safety switch
A PreToolUse hook blocks any mouse, keyboard or screenshot command while the pilot is paused. Shoving the cursor into the top left corner pauses it right away, and there are hotkeys, a ./pilot pause command and a small SwiftUI menu bar panel for the same thing.
Limits
The hook matches command text, so it's a guard rail, not a sandbox. Something like a Python script that calls the macOS input APIs directly would get past it. Controlling native apps is flaky. It was a one night build and I haven't kept using it.
