Brody Kretz

I'm a senior at CU Boulder studying Information Science with a minor in Business, and I graduate in May 2027. The classes that stuck with me most were applied machine learning, statistics and data science. A lot of my early projects came out of those: pulling public datasets into Python and SQL, cleaning them up, modeling them, and turning the results into maps, network graphs and dashboards. I also picked up the Google Data Analytics certificate along the way.

I got into this through BI and analytics, and that still shapes how I work. I check numbers before I trust them, and that matters even more with language models because a wrong answer looks exactly like a right one. These days most of what I build is AI engineering: agent pipelines, retrieval systems, and the test sets that tell me whether they actually work. I also build ML models that give a range instead of one number, small tools I use every day, and ChessReflex, a chess training app I run myself.

Since April 2026 I've been doing contract development for BlueSteel AI Solutions, building software for their clients and their own products. The biggest piece is a CRM that runs a private school's sponsorship program. I've also worked on the email delivery side of a daily newsletter.

I'm looking for an engineering job where I can keep building AI and data systems and make sure they work before people depend on them.
